"Our plan is to join a church that has a plan to plant churches and help them do that." "We hope to be there a really long time, or at least until God calls us elsewhere." These are some of the things we told people as we prepared to move from our home in the United States to Lisbon, Portugal.
We are excited to announce the Pearsons are coming to a city near you soon!! We will be doing a 3 month home leave starting at the end of October. We will be resting, visiting family and friends, sharing about our work here in Lisbon, and growing our partners for our ministry.
Please be in prayer for our time in the States, that we would find time to rest, that we would enjoy our time with friends and family, that we would find people and churches interested in partnering with us, and that we would find people interested in coming to serve with us here in Lisbon.
It was going to be our first Christmas season in Lisbon! I was so excited and had so many plans on how we would enjoy this wonderful time in our new home- visiting Christmas markets, dinners with friends, serving those in need, seeing Pai Natal (Santa Claus), walking the old streets of Lisbon lit by Christmas lights… It was going to be magical.
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." -A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh
Julie told me during that week, “I was really hoping that you would forget about Europe…” However, God started breaking our hearts for those people that seemingly have every physical need met, but will end up in an eternity separated from God because they don’t know Jesus and really don’t think they need Him. In that same conversation I mentioned above Julie finished her statement, “…but I think that is where God is calling us to go.”
